Monet’s Garden Paint & Sip

Spend a relaxed and creative Sunday painting your own version of Monet’s beautiful garden and water-lily paintings in the welcoming surrounds of Gallery 1855.

This is a fun, social painting experience rather than a formal art class. You’ll be guided step-by-step through the painting process, with plenty of encouragement and individual help along the way. No previous painting experience is needed — whether you’re a complete beginner or already enjoy painting, you’ll be encouraged to put your own spin on the artwork.

Your creative experience includes:

  • 16 x 20" stretched canvas to take home

  • All acrylic paints and art materials

  • Apron provided to protect your clothes

  • A selection of Monet-inspired garden and water-lily images to choose from as your inspiration

  • Step-by-step guidance from local artist Karen Nickels

  • A relaxed, chilled playlist while you paint

  • A glass of wine or bubbles to enjoy during the session

  • Tea and coffee

  • Cake

  • A friendly, casual atmosphere where you can chat, laugh and enjoy being creative

You’ll be seated around communal tables, making it easy to meet new people, come along with friends or simply enjoy some creative time for yourself. There’s no pressure to produce a perfect painting — the aim is to relax, have fun and discover just how enjoyable painting can be.

Whether you're inspired by Monet's dreamy water lilies, reflections on the water, lush garden foliage or bursts of colour, you can choose the image that appeals to you and create your own interpretation
